Democrats Begin Plotting Comeback
State Democrats started plotting their return from a political demolition in the November elections with their semiannual meeting Saturday in Boise.
They also did a little fund raising, listened to Democratic National Committee Chairman Don Fowler and had some fun at the annual Jefferson-Jackson Reunion.
Fowler, keynote speaker at the Jefferson-Jackson Reunion, said the rebuilding of the party has to begin with reminding voters of the successes of the Clinton administration, including a healthy economy and job creation.
“We have to do a better job of selling that message,” Fowler said.
“Life goes on,” former U.S. Rep. Larry LaRocco of Idaho’s 1st District told party leaders from around the state who had gathered for their semiannual Central Committee meeting.
Fowler was heavily involved in the 1992 Democratic National Convention that nominated Bill Clinton. He has been a National Committee member since 1971.
