Compiled From Wire Services

Driving a careful and conservative race, David Green won the Opryland USA 320 NASCAR Busch Grand National stock car race at Nashville Speedway.

Green, driving a Chevrolet, took the lead from polesitter Darrell Waltrip on lap 277 and led the rest of the way in the 320-lap race on the .596-mile track.

Spokane’s Chad Little finished second in a Ford, 1.32 seconds behind Green, with Terry Labonte third in a Chevrolet, Kenny Wallace fourth in a Ford and Larry Pearson fifth in a Chevrolet.

At Martinsville, Va., Shayne Lockhart led the entire way to win the $74,920 Miller Genuine Draft 300, the richest event ever run for NASCAR’s Late Model Stock division.
