Advisory Group Taps Area Anglers
Six Spokane-area fishermen have been named to Washington’s first inland fish policy advisory group, to advise the Washington Fish and Wildlife Department on issues related to trout, bass, walleyes and other inland fish.
Among those named to the 16-member committee from 34 nominees reviewed by Fish and Wildlife Department officials were:
Charles Dunning and George Orr of the Spokane Walleye Club.
Frank Faha and Dan Pfeiffer of the Inland Empire Bass Club.
Richard Lee of the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council.
Fred Shiosaki of the Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club.
The advisors were appointed for one-year terms. The first meeting is Friday in Olympia.
Others named to the group include William Towey of Usk, with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians; Doug Allen of Yakima, a boat dealer and member of the Mid-Columbia Walleye Club; Gerald Erickson of Seattle, with the Washington State Hi-Lakers Club; Oscar Johnson of Longview, with Cowlitz Game & Anglers and Jim Ledbetter of Seattle, with King County Outdoor Sports Council.
Also among them are Dave Michener of Olympia, bass angler; Jim Owens of Renton, with Washington State BASS; Joe Stone of Auburn, with Trout Unlimited; Richard Thompson of Ellensburg, with Federation of Flyfishers; and Ron Sawyer of Moses Lake, with the Central Washington Fish Advisory Committee.
