Cda Quarterback Opts For Central
Coeur d’Alene High School quarterback Jason Rook has orally committed himself to attend Central Washington University.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Rook passed for 1.302 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 453 yards and three TDs last fall as Coeur d’Alene qualified for the A-1 Division II playoffs.
Under Columbia Football Association rules, Rook can’t officially sign with the Wildcats until May 1, CWU coach Jeff Zenisek said. Zenisek said Central, currently an NAIA Division II institution, plans to recruit more in Eastern Washington and North Idaho in the future because the school plans to apply for NCAA Division II membership in June.
Volleyball
Eighty-eight teams, including, for the first time, teams of boys, will compete in the Club Mead Volleyball Tournament.
Competition is Saturday and Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. at Mead High School, Mead Junior High and Northwood Junior High. Age groups are from under-12 through high school.
Baseball
Today’s North Idaho College-Blue Mountain CC baseball doubleheader at NIC has been postponed because of wet grounds.
NIC coach Jack Bloxom said the clubs may try to play Wednesday, weather and field conditions permitting.
