Sabres Coach Goes Free

Compiled From Wire Services

Buffalo Sabres coach John Muckler won’t face charges that he slapped an assistant district attorney after the two exchanged words following a game.

Erie County District Attorney Kevin Dillon refused to comment about details of the incident, which occurred outside the Sabres’ dressing room at Memorial Auditorium after their 6-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.

The Buffalo News reported that Vincent LoTempio, an assistant district attorney for six years, was heckling Muckler about the Sabres’ play after the game. Muckler reportedly responded by slapping LoTempio.

Dillon said Muckler wouldn’t be prosecuted and that the matter was dropped.
