Dragster Kills Three

Compiled From Wire Services

Three people were killed and six injured, two critically, when a car went out of control and ran into the crowd at a rural drag strip.

Glen Hicks, of the Old Dominion FourWheel Drive Club which sponsored the event, said a late-model car was racing against the clock down the 200-yard track when the driver lost control. The car went through a guard rail and fence before plowing into the crowd.

Hicks said the driver of the car, identified only as a 50-year-old Mississippi man, was not injured.
