Mcdonald’s University Awards Degree To Manager
Susan Slippy, manager of the North Sullivan Road McDonald’s restaurant, has been awarded a Bachelor of Hamburgerology degree from the McDonald’s Hamburger University, for graduating from the university’s advanced operations course.
Army National Guard Pfc. Mark Bolster, son of Bill and Carol Bolster, Medical Lake, completed a utility helicopter repair course while serving at Fort Rucker, Daleville, Ala. He is a 1994 graduate of Medical Lake High School.
Kenneth D. Way, son of Kenneth E. Way, Bovill, Idaho and Radene Pierce, Cheney, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of senior airman. He is a graduate of Deary High School, Idaho.
Kristin Boyles, Spokane, has graduated from the University of Mary, Bismarck N.D., with a bachelor’s degree in respiratory care.
Melanie Wright, daughter of Alice Wittenbecher, Spokane, and William Wright, Vancouver, Wash., has reveived the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship for 1995. She is a junior chemistry major at Pacific Lutheran University. Wright is a 1992 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.
Spokane Community College students recently participated in the national Post-Secondary Agricultural Conference. First place honors were received by Shawna Romo in the floriculture interview competition, and Mike Allen and Steve Crouse in the agricultural machinery service technician category. John Tellison placed second in the forestry and natural resources interview session. Other students attending the national conference were: LeMarr Cook in the landscaping and nursery interview, and Kris Romo in general management-career planning.
Susan Lund, a senior at Shadle Park High School, was named 1994 Volunteer of the Year by the Spokane Police Department. She is an Explorer Scout with Post 941. Lund has volunteered over 1,000 hours to various SPD- and Explorer-related community service projects including Hoopfest security, Bloomsday, and Kindervision.
