Ccs Clinches 1st-Place Tie

Community Colleges of Spokane clinched a tie for first in NWAACC East baseball after a 14-1, 4-2 sweep of Wenatchee Valley Tuesday.

In the opener, Jason Mathews of CCS had three doubles and three runs batted in. Charlie Zimmerman went the distance, allowing three hits and no walks.

Mathews had three hits in the second game, including two more doubles, and scored the winning run on a passed ball in the eighth.

Kory Kimball earned the win with relief help from Cory Sivumaki.

CCS is 22-7 in the East Region, 24-11 overall, with one regularseason game remaining.
