Spokane River Float Isn’t Exactly Free, But Feel Free To Call If You’re Interested
Looking for that free whitewater trip on the Spokane River? It’s not quite as it appeared in a story on last Friday’s Recreation Page.
The Northwest Whitewater Association does stage weekly floats on the Spokane River, “but it’s not exactly a ‘free float,”’ said spokesman Paul Delaney, who fielded inquiries on the subject.
“We do, however, sometimes have extra space available on the floats,” he said. “And qualified people with their own equipment can join us, too.”
Delaney said those interested should call by the Tuesday of the week they’d like to get involved, either him, at 928-6998, or Bob Rockser (466-2200), who was the subject of last week’s article.
Delaney also noted Big Wave Dave’s Whitewater Supply conducts demo-floats on Thursdays for a fee in conjunction with the NWA floats. For information on that, call 325-1665.

Liberty Lake County Park will be the site of a paddle fair and demo day on Sunday put on by Mountain Gear.
The event, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., is free and open to the public. It’s an opportunity to try different equipment and talk to experts about what might be best for your needs.
Take the Liberty Lake exit off I-90 and follow the signs to the site.
