With conditions ideal for record-setting performances, Kenyans Delillah Asiago and Josphat Machuka followed up their wins in Spokane’s Bloomsday with the elite titles in the 17th Bolder Boulder 10-kilometer road race.

Under cloudy skies and 52-degree temperatures, Asiago shattered the Bolder Boulder women’s record by more than a minute, while Machuka knocked 48 seconds off the men’s mark.

Both won by comfortable margins. Asiago, who has won nine of 10 races this season, including the last seven, outdistanced runner-up Olga Appell by 52 seconds. Machuka finished 23 seconds ahead of defending men’s champion Armando Quintanilla of Mexico.

Spokane’s Kim Jones finished 16th in a time of 35:33.
