Stanford To Play For Title
Stanford’s Eric Sees hit an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat Texas Tech 3-2 in the NCAA Midwest regional baseball playoffs and force a championship game against the Red Raiders today in Wichita, Kan.
Texas Tech beat Stanford 3-1 Sunday.
Mario Iglesias (3-2) pitched a fivehitter, striking out five and walking three for Stanford (38-23). Brian Dallimore drove in two runs.
Earlier in the day, Steve Carver had four RBIs and Dallimore added three as Stanford eliminated Lamar 16-9.
Dan Reed (4-4) allowed six runs in six innings to earn the victory.
In Sioux City, Iowa, Lewis-Clark State defeated Birmingham-Southern 11-6 in 12 innings for its second win in the NAIA World Series.
The top-seeded Warriors (57-14) play Cumberland, Tenn. (48-17) today in the rain-delayed event.
