Head-On With Logging Truck Injures 3

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two young girls and a woman were hospitalized Monday afternoon after their Suburban ran into a logging truck.

Leslie West, 31, of Heron, Mont., was driving west on state Highway 200 near Clark Fork about 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to an Idaho State Police report.

In the car with her were Ashley West, 8, and Allison West, 8, also both from Montana.

David L. Haase, 60, of Thompson Falls, Mont., was driving a logging truck east on the highway. The vehicles were about to pass when the left rear wheel fell off of West’s Suburban, according to the report.

West lost control of her vehicle and careened into the eastbound lane, hitting the logging truck head-on, according to the report.

Ashley West was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center where she was listed in satisfactory condition in the pediatric intensive care unit Tuesday.

Leslie West and Allison West were taken to Bonner General Hospital. Leslie was listed in serious condition. Allison was treated and released.

All three were wearing their seat belts, according to the ISP report.
