‘Terra Firma’ exhibit
A national juried exhibition of ceramic art, “Terra Firma,” will be shown concurrently at two local galleries this month: Chase Gallery in City Hall and the Corbin Art Center.
“Terra Firma” features 52 works from 39 artists from 22 states. The exhibit was judged by Juan Granados, a former Eastern Washington University faculty member currently teaching at Texas Technical University.
The exhibit will be shown at the Corbin Center, 517 W. Seventh, through Nov. 22, and opens Monday at the Chase Gallery, where it will run through Nov. 30.
A special reception will be Nov. 16 at both galleries: 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chase Gallery, and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Corbin Art Center.
For more information, call 625-6050.
New gallery
Eldridge Antiques and Art, 1325 W. First, has opened Eldridge Gallery, which will specialize in displaying works by area artists.
Works by Richard L. Twedt and Marvin Smith are now on display. Twedt’s pieces are oils from the Italian and Pompei series, while Smith’s are from the series, “My Day at the Beach.”
The gallery’s opening reception was Friday.
Gourd-eous art
Deborah Eimers, a Coeur d’Alene artist, will teach a master class, “Uncommon Gourds,” Nov. 18 and 19 at the Spokane Art School, 920 N. Howard.
Just in time for the holiday season, students will learn to create unusual and artful centerpieces from squash and use gourds to make masks, rattles, bowls and dolls.
Eimers’ work is shown in galleries and gift shops around the globe. She has taught graduate and undergraduate fiber art courses at North Idaho College and the University of Idaho. She is owner of Loose Threads, a fiber art gallery in Coeur d’Alene.
Space for the master class is limited. To register, or for more information, call 328-0900.
