Washington Man Will Fight Extradition
A man who surrendered to Nevada authorities more than two years after he was convicted of raping his daughter in Washington state plans to fight extradition, Snohomish County officials say.
Franklin Larry Carrico, 36, had been the subject of a nationwide search since he disappeared July 26, 1993. He turned himself in to the Douglas County sheriff’s office in Minden, Nev., on Sunday.
He was convicted in Snohomish County Superior Court here of three counts of first-degree rape for sexually molesting, abusing and raping his daughter between November 1989 and June 1990. She was 10 at the time of the trial.
In a hearing Monday in Tahoe, Nev., Township Justice Court, Carrico refused to waive extradition, said Robert Story, Douglas County chief deputy district attorney.
Carrico’s decision to fight extradition means prosecutors will obtain a warrant from the Washington governor’s office for his return.
