Woman Sues Pine Crest, Alleging Sex Harassment

From Staff And Wire Reports

A woman who claims she was sexually harassed is suing Pine Crest Hospital and Counseling Center and one of its former employees.

Terri Thompson filed suit Friday against Pine Crest and Steve McCormick, the former director of maintenance and housekeeping.

Thompson worked at Pine Crest as a housekeeper from February 1993 to May 1994, according to the lawsuit. During that time, McCormick was her direct supervisor.

According to the lawsuit, filed in Kootenai County court, McCormick began sexually harassing Thompson in June 1993. Thompson accused McCormick of regularly touching her and soliciting sex from her.

Thompson claims she had to submit to her boss’ sexual advances in order to remain employed at Pine Crest.

Efforts to reach McCormick were unsuccessful.

Pine Crest officials said they had not been notified of the lawsuit.

“We take all complaints of this type seriously,” said Brad Gerrard, director of business development for Pine Crest. “We’re going to investigate fully and with aggressiveness.”

Gerrard confirmed that both Thompson and McCormick had worked at the hospital. McCormick, however, was “let go,” Gerrard said.

He would not say why.
