Help Others As You Holiday Shop
Christmas is six weeks away, plenty of time to make your list and check it twice. Then plan to attend The Bon Marche “Celebration of Caring,” a festive event enabling you to shop before the frenzy while supporting three local charities.
The evening of holiday fun is Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at The Bon Marche’s downtown store only.
Tickets are $5 per person (children under 12 are free) and all proceeds go directly to your choice of three participating charities: Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Children’s Home Society of Washington and Inland Northwest Area Special Olympics. The Bon Marche will also contribute to these organizations with 5 percent of the night’s total sales.
While these groups benefit, you save money as well. Throughout the evening you may preview and shop the store’s After Thanksgiving sale before it is available to the public. With each purchase you will earn Holiday Dollars, a store rebate program.
The evening will also include an early visit from Santa, informal modeling, holiday music, refreshments, gift consultants, door prizes and free gift wrap - all amid lavish holiday decor. Parking is complimentary.
Tickets are available from any of the three participating charities.
Mail a check payable to one of the following organizations along with your name, address, daytime phone and number of tickets requested: Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, 1004 E. Eighth Ave., Spokane, WA 99202 (535-3155); Children’s Home Society of Washington, 4315 S. Scott, Spokane, WA 99203 (747-4174); Inland Northwest Area Special Olympics, P.O. Box 40117, Spokane, WA 99202 (327-8551).
You may also arrange for tickets by calling the organizations.
A gift of warmth:
As the temperature plunges, many Inland Northwest families will struggle to afford heat for their homes. Project Share is an emergency energy assistance program supported by the contributions of Washington Water Power customers and other local utility companies. Administered through the Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs, Project Share is able to provide heating assistance for residents who use electricity, natural gas, oil, wood, coal and propane. Washington Water Power customers will receive a Project Share pledge brochure in their November bills. To make a contribution, simply complete the form and return it, along with your payment, to WWP. Contributions may also be made throughout the year by indicating on the WWP monthly bill a write-in contribution or monthly pledge of $2, $5 or $10. Every donation helps someone enjoy a warmer winter. For more information on Project Share, call Julie Pickerel at 456-7111, ext. 214.
