Another Handgun Turns Up At Boise School
A second student at Boise’s Les Bois Junior High has been suspended for bringing a handgun to school and could be expelled.
The 14-year-old eighth-grader allegedly brought the gun to the campus last Friday and Monday and then hid it on a vacant lot near the school.
Boise school officials on Wednesday announced the suspension of the eighth-grader, one day after another Les Bois Junior High student was caught with a gun on campus.
Police believe both .22-caliber handguns were stolen during a burglary in Boise.
In the latest case, a citizen found the revolver and turned it over to police. Information eventually led them to the student.
The student admitted to bringing the weapon to school and hiding it on the vacant lot, school spokesman Dan Hollar said. Charges have not yet been filed against the student.
District policy and federal law require students who bring guns to school be expelled for at least a year. The school board must approve expulsions.
