Johnna Evans Receives Athletic Scholarship

Johnna Evans, a sophomore biology major at Boise State University, was recently awarded a $5,700 intercollegiate athletic gymnastics scholarship. She is a National College Athletic Association All-American Scholar.

Evans is the daughter of Nelson and Patricia Evans of Coeur d’Alene and a 1994 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School.

Linda Kirk Fox, an extension specialist in family economics at the University of Idaho, and her team members recently received national recognition for their financial education program, “Enhancing the Financial Literacy of Older Youth.”

The National Association of Extension Home Economists presented the Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award to Fox during its annual meeting in Dallas.

Team members honored were Mary Ann Lawroski and Marilyn Cross Bischoff from UI Extension, Chris Koehler and Louise Parker from Washington State University, and Elizabeth Schiever from the National Endowment for Education.

The program is designed to increase and upgrade financial management education in high schools, and wants to increase collaborative efforts between teachers and financial service professionals.

Army Pvt. Paul K. Best has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Best is the son of Paul and Bonnie Best of Athol, Idaho.

Army Pvt. Christopher E. Kidd has entered basic training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Kidd is the son of Kathleen Potter of Post Falls.

Timothy J. Admore, a 1995 graduate of Post Falls High School, has been officially accepted as a cadet at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Admore completed six weeks of military training and daily testing of physical endurance and mental strength. He will spend four years at the academy and graduate with a bachelor of science degree and a commission in the Air Force as a second lieutenant.

He is the son of Larry and Wendy Admore of Post Falls.
