The Slice When It Comes To Nap Time, Bob Changes Tune To Cat’s Meow

We’re not always such pushovers.

But hey, we ran a picture of a dog not long ago. So maybe it’s time to even things up.

The letter started: “Please print this picture of Picabo (Peek-a-boo) and my husband, Bob.”

It was from Newman Lake’s Sandy Hosking, a woman apparently not above saying “I told you so.”

It seems Bob used to proclaim that he hated cats. He vowed he would never, under any circumstances, share living quarters with one. But Picabo made him change his tune, said Sandy, presumably smirking.

“Bob’s ‘Baby’ often siestas with his ‘Daddy,”’ she added.

Cyrus McLean wonders: “Does the WSU-Spokane student who posted the ‘MATH TUDOR NEEDED’ sign also need an English tutor?”

Trend alert: More and more, couples submitting wedding announcements to the newspaper write “first marriage” in the margin of the form. As if, well, never mind.

Slice answer (saluting Spokane with a tattoo): “Mine would have to say ‘Mother,’ because she’s always living in the past, and can always find something wrong in any situation,” wrote John Wojtulewicz.

New sport: For St. Maries second-grader Megan Grassle, one of the best things about winter is sledding on a kayak named “Raspberry.”

Renaming the Apple Cup: “Needle in a Haystack Cup.” - Julie Foster

If I were in charge of my school, I would: “Have a special desk for each student,” wrote Bridget McCarthy, a 4th-grader at Browne Elementary. “On the desk it would have a mini refridgerater for the ice cream.”

Michelle Sybouts, 7, names her favorite Beatles song: “Hey, Hey, We’re the Monkees.”

Coming Tuesday: Readers share their ideas about what every Inland Northwest newcomer needs.

Warm-up question: At this time of year, how often do directory information operators connect with a caller only to hear coughing?

Today’s Slice question: Is Spokane’s reputation as a city of drivers who honk politely still deserved?
