Churchgoers Line Highway To Protest Abortion

Associated Press

Several hundred members of Christian churches in the Hamilton area lined U.S. 93 through the city for an hour Sunday afternoon in protest against abortion.

It was part of a national protest, the fifth annual “Life Chain Demonstration Against Abortion.”

This was the fourth time Hamilton-area churches joined in.

Participants - about half of them children - stood along both sides of a two-mile stretch of the highway holding signs denouncing abortion.

They waved and smiled at some motorists, and some drivers honked back, but the demonstration was generally quiet.

Coordinators said more than 600 people participated, based on tallies of the numbers reported by the various congregations.
