Now We All Know How The Stars Stay So Shiny

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

So you think celebrities were born beautiful? You’d look pretty good, too, if you had their kind of money.

The October issue of Glamour magazine reveals some of their spendy secrets:

Madonna flies her personal body waxer wherever she happens to be for a five-hour primping session, at a cost of $600 (not including airfare).

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis spend $3,000 a month on bottled water - to both drink and to bathe in.

A host of Hollywood types, including Julia Roberts, Dennis Quaid and Barbra Streisand, stay trim with the help of low-fat, custom-made meals delivered to their doorstep for $200 a week.

Uma Thurman forks out $150 for a 90-minute scalp massage. (Hey, we know a guy who would do it for free.)

Loose Talk

Emmylou Harris, on performing in Branson, Mo. (in Entertainment Weekly): “I just sort of felt like me and the audience were in different worlds … I prefer going to where people live, rather than to where people have been eating at all-you-can-eat buffets all day.”

Do you suppose they’re on a first-name basis?

Sting turns 44 and Tiffany 24 today.

She’ll no doubt find another man to lean on

Elizabeth Taylor, still limping from her second hip replacement surgery, plans to have yet another operation next month to make her legs the same length. “I will not be a cripple,” Taylor told gossip guru Liz Smith. “I will not use crutches or a walker. I will get over this and get on with my life.”

She’s getting ready to play her trump card

Ivanka Trump, 13-year-old daughter of The Donald and ex-wife Ivana, has been working with stylists and photographers to prepare a modeling portfolio. Dad says he’s proud, but would be “devastated” if she became more famous than he.

Sure, they’re grateful, but he’s still dead

Jerry Garcia is praised in the latest issue of Money magazine for taking precise care, in an 18-page will, that his assets be divided fairly among his wife, a brother and his four daughters. Said one estate planner: “Most people make (avoiding) taxes a higher priority.”

But with ‘Jet’, all that you get is a snack

Health food peddlers Paul and Linda McCartney, who just sent 22 tons of dried veggie burger mix to Bosnian war victims, will lend their voices - and animal rights views - to an upcoming episode of “The Simpsons.” Says the cartoon Paul: “If you play ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ backwards, you’ll hear a recipe for a really ripping lentil soup.”

Those sparkly suit days are probably past

Country will be king today at the New York Stock Exchange, when Porter Wagoner rings the opening bell in observance of the Grand Ole Opry’s 70th anniversary. Said Wagoner: “Heck, I just may invest in rhinestones futures while I’m there.”
