Indians 5, Mariners 2 Mariners Stung Hershiser Still Perfect In Postseason

Orel Hershiser would have none of it.

Not the Kingdome noise, not the fireworks set off after Ken Griffey Jr.’s home run, not the momentum the Seattle Mariners were starting to build. None of it was going to stop him from winning a game the Cleveland Indians had to have.

Hershiser maintained his perfect career record in the postseason leading the Indians past Seattle 5-2 Wednesday night and tying the A.L. playoffs at 1-all.

Mariner stars of the game: Ken Griffey Jr. goes 2 for 4 with a home run; Jay Buhner hits a solo home run.

Indians stars: Orel Hershiser allows four hits in eight innings; Manny Ramirez homers twice and went 4 for 4.
