Cory McLaughlin’s 85-yard kickoff return to open the game Thursday spurred fourth-ranked Chewelah to a commanding halftime lead during a 41-17 Northeast A League win at Newport.

Cody Katzer and Greg Belzer rushed for two touchdowns apiece for the Cougars (4-0, 6-0). The Grizzlies (2-2, 2-4) fell into a third-place tie with Freeman.
