‘If Not For You’ Canceled After Four Shows
The first casualty of the new TV season hit this week with confirmation that CBS has pulled the plug on the Monday night show “If Not for You.”
CBS will be replacing the sitcom for the next two weeks with “Cybill” reruns. “Cybill” will continue to run in its regular Sunday night slot. A CBS spokesperson said no decision has been made yet on a replacement for “If Not for You” in the long term.
The move, the first cancellation for new CBS Entertainment president Leslie Moonves, came after just four episodes of the sitcom aired.
After a fair amount of viewer curiosity in its debut performance as part of CBS’ strong Monday night sitcom block, the ratings nose-dived.
