Sheriff Asks Help Nationwide From Purchasers Of Big Cats

Associated Press

The Bannock County Sheriff’s Department is seeking nationwide help to provide information about animals that were traded or sold with Ligertown Game Farm Inc. operators.

Detectives want to talk with people who bought or traded products or services for one of Robert Fieber and Dotti Martin’s lions, tigers or lion/ tiger crosses called ligers.

“We are not looking for these people to charge them with anything or take their cats away,” Detective Andy Thomas said.

“It is not illegal here for them to have the cats, but it was illegal for Fieber and Martin to sell or trade them without a USDA license. We’ve had reports that they’ve sold cats to people all over - even in Florida.”

Martin and Fieber each are charged with 107 misdemeanors and two felonies resulting from how they cared for their animals at their game farm east of Lava Hot Springs.

Law enforcement officers became involved with the farm after 19 lions escaped and Fieber and Martin were attacked by one of their cats last month.

The couple’s 47 large cats and more than 40 wolf hybrids were confiscated when the Humane Society of the United States declared the facility inhumane.
