Deaconess Benefit Event Great Way To Wine And Dine
The Deaconess Medical Center Foundation will host its 15th annual Epicurean Delight at the Spokane Agricultural Trade Center on Friday from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.
The black-tie event, which features 26 regional restaurants, 18 local wineries and two breweries, benefits the Deaconess Women’s Clinic at the West Central Community Center.
Nine hundred people are expected to attend the dinner. Mary Beth Nethercutt will be Epicurean Delight’s honorary chair.
There’s dancing at 9 p.m. featuring the music of Men and the Making.
Tickets are $125 per person, $1,250 per table of 10 and $1,500 for a sponsored table.

SIDS conference
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) strikes 6,000 infants each year, making it the No. 1 killer of infants.
SIDS carries no symptoms except death.
A recent study conducted at the University of Washington by Dr. Michael Emery found that SIDS may occur when hormones suppress the baby’s drive to breathe.
Saturday, to recognize National SIDS Awareness Month, the SIDS Foundation of Washington will meet at the Wyndham Garden Hotel (across from SeaTac International Airport) at 2 p.m.
Researchers and health care professionals will discuss the results of the new study.

‘HealthTalks’
“It’s Your Choice: Advance Health Care Directives” is the topic of the second in a series of “HealthTalks” sponsored by the Rockwood Clinic, 400 E. Fifth.
The program occurs Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the clinic.
A panel, including a nurse, physician and attorney, will present information on living wills and health care directives.

Families in stress workshop
Healthiness Offers Peaceful Enjoyment for Children of Addicted Parents (HOPE for COAP) will conduct a workshop entitled “Families In Stress” on Saturday at the Colonial Clinic, 910 N. Washington, suite 210, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A number of topics will be covered during the day-long workshop, such as naming family violence, identifying family systems that lead to violence, parenting for a non-violent home and the role of play in peace-making.
