Abortion Foes March Through Mexico City

Thousands of abortion foes marched through Mexico City Sunday to repudiate pro-abortion positions adopted at a women’s conference in Beijing, China, press reports said Monday.

Abortion is illegal but widely available in Mexico.

The three-hour march, from the Angel Monument of Independence to the Basilica of Guadalupe, was mostly silent with marchers praying the rosary and led by a large banner reading “Pilgrimage for Life and Family.”

Several Catholic groups took part in the march but did not organize it.
