Students File Sex-Abuse Claim
Four minors who claim they were sexually abused by former Grangeville High School teacher and basketball coach Oscar J. Salinas have filed a tort claim against the school district.
The minors, represented by Boise lawyer Debrha Carnahan, are seeking $200,000 in damages in a claim that also names Centennial High School in Meridian, Clearwater Valley High School in Kooskia and the state Board of Education.
Salinas, 30, who taught Spanish at Grangeville High School last year and was a coach and teacher the year before at Clearwater Valley High School, pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of felony sexual battery involving a 17-year-old student.
