West One, U.S. Bank To Combine Branches

Bert Caldwell Staff Writer

The lone West One Bank branch in Spokane will be combined with the main office of U.S. Bank of Washington following the merger of their parent companies later this year.

Meanwhile, on the Idaho side of the border, U.S. Bank branches will be consolidated with those of West One.

All will bear the name of the surviving institution, U.S. Bank.

A total of 52 branches will be combined as the two bank holding companies fold together their operations in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

The result will be a system with 190 branches in Washington, and 90 in Idaho and 180 in Oregon.

Spokeswoman Mary Ruble said the consolidations will not take place until the middle of next year. She said bank officials do not know how many might lose their jobs as a result of the branch mergers.

Customer accounts at the Spokane West One branch will move four blocks east, from W801 Riverside to W428 Riverside.

In Coeur d’Alene, U.S. Bank’s 301 N. 3rd branch will be meshed with West One’s at 302 Sherman. And in Post Falls U.S. Bank customers at 709 E. Seltice will hike three blocks west to 415 E. Seltice.
