Downtown Rally To Promote Diabetes Education

This is National Diabetes Education Week.

To mark the occasion, the Washington Association of Diabetes Educators will hold a rally - “If I Knew Then What I Know Now” - from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Spokane Transit Authority Plaza downtown.

The rally’s purpose is to increase public awareness of the benefits of diabetes education, which could prevent serious complications.

Diabetes affects an estimated 145,000 people in Washington state.

Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene has gone high-tech.

The center’s dietitians are giving dietetic advice, weight-management information and nutritional guidance via cyberspace.

Health workshop

Community Action Center and Family Support Programs of Pullman will sponsor “Healthy Choices,” a workshop for parents, at the Pullman Baptist Church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The workshop, led by several health specialists, will give parents tips on promoting good health for their children.
