Vigeland, Vanwert Finish Well

Kelle Vigeland of Spokane was second in her age group and 14th overall among the women in the Timex Ironman Canada triathlon Sunday in Penticton, British Columbia.

Vigeland, competing in women’s 30-34, completed the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run in 10 hours, 33 minutes, 32 seconds.

Best overall finish by an area man was Brad Vanwert’s 29th. He won the men’s 40-44 age group with a 9:27:47.

Michael Rembolt of Spokane won the wheelchair division in 10:20:41.

There were 1,242 finishers.

Bowling

Two of the Professional Bowlers Association’s top competitors, Dave Husted and Marshall Holman, will be at Silver Lanes Sept. 22 to put on an advanced bowlers clinic in conjunction with a PGA Regional Tournament that weekend.

The clinic is limited to 20 participants. Cost is $200, which includes 4 hours of instruction and a new Columbia bowling ball.

Registration is also being taken for three pro-am events - junior, open amateur and celebrity - that will be held Sept. 22 and 23. The regional tournament will run Sept. 23-24.

Snowboarding

J.D. Platt, ranked third overall in men’s masters World Cup, will be at Lou Lou’s, 428 E. Pacific, Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to sign autographs and meet people interested in the sport.

Platt, sponsored by Killer Loop, will have some freebies to give away.
