Five Injured In Crash Near Nine Mile Falls
Five people were injured, including one seriously, in a headon collision Saturday morning near Nine Mile Falls.
James Marsh, 48, from Nine Mile Falls, was passing another car when his pickup slammed into a car driven by Bev Pennell, the Washington State Patrol said.
Barry Barton, 48, of Nine Mile Falls, was a passenger in Pennell’s car and suffered a separated pelvis. He was listed in serious condition Saturday night at Deaconess Medical Center.
Bev Pennell, 24, of Reardan, Robert Pennell, 29, of Reardan, and Brian Barton, 22, of Fairchild Air Force Base, were also taken to Deaconess. Bev Pennell was treated for facial cuts and chest bruises, Robert Pennell for cuts to his head and a bruised chest and Brian Barton for chest injuries and possible internal injuries. All three were treated and released.
Marsh was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he was treated for cuts to his right leg and chest bruises and released. He may be cited for the accident, according to a WSP statement.
The accident occurred on Nine Mile Road just after 8 a.m. Troopers said Marsh was westbound about a half-mile west of the Little Spokane River bridge when his 1985 Toyota pickup hit Pennell’s 1985 Pontiac. All five victims were wearing seat belts.
