Weather Hinders Search For Plane

Associated Press

Sporadic rain and lingering clouds Thursday hampered the search for an airplane reported missing on a sightseeing flight to Glacier Peak.

“The weather’s been up and down all day,” said Brian Holmes, chief pilot for the state Transportation Department’s aviation division.

Only 14 aircraft searched Thursday morning for the small, private plane, which left Wenatchee on a sightseeing flight Monday morning and was expected back by early afternoon, Holmes said.

The pilot was identified as Bill Lund, 26, of Wenatchee, and the passengers as his father, Don Lund, 58, of Wenatchee, and his uncle, Cal Zigler, 70, of Eugene, Ore.

Search pilots have criss-crossed nearly 60 percent of the search area.
