Levies Fail At Twin Falls, Potlatch
Twin Falls School District patrons have rejected a $2.06 million supplemental levy that would have financed a new alternative school and bolstered the district’s technology program.
Of 2,829 voters Thursday, 1,698 opposed the measure and 1,131 favored it.
“The next step is to find out what went wrong and how to get more people to vote,” Superintendent Terrell Donicht said.
The district may try another levy in the spring, he said. For now, the alternative school will remain in the First Presbyterian Church.
Meanwhile, a $600,000 bond issue for renovations at Potlatch High School narrowly failed Thursday. The money would have paid for permanent walls for some high school classrooms and a new parking lot.
Sixty-four percent of the 555 Potlatch School District patrons who cast ballots supported the measure, but it required a two-thirds supermajority for approval.
