Raymond Mayther Spokane

Memorial service for Raymond F. Mayther, 79, is planned for 12:30 p.m. today at Manito United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mayther, who died Monday, was born in Syracuse, N.Y.

He graduated from Wallace High School and moved to Spokane in 1936.

He served in the Navy for three years during World War II.

From 1945 until he retired in 1980, he worked for the Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Mayther; four sons, Raymond Mayther Jr. of Spokane, Charles Neill of Clarkston, Wash., Richard Mayther of Everett and Bruce Neill of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Sandra Weigand of Snohomish, Wash., and Lorilou Neill of Cheney; one sister, Daisybell Mayther of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ruby Dubert Spokane

A private gathering will be held in remembrance of Ruby C. Dubert. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dubert, 80, died Monday.

She was born in Floodwood, Minn.

A homemaker, she had lived in Spokane for 17 years.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Her husband, Edwin Dubert, died in 1990.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Dubert Smith of Edmonds, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Carol Smythe of Woodside, Calif.; two brothers, Richard Gates of Manson, Wash., and Clarence Gates of Spokane; two sisters, Ruth Davis and Marjorie Tuefert and one stepsister Genevieve Teufert, all of Spokane; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Zelpha Williams Spokane

No service will be held for Zelpha M. Williams, 86, at her request. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Williams, who died Aug. 31, was born on a homestead near Manhattan, Mont.

She had lived in Spokane for 70 years and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Bob Williams, died in 1980.

She is survived by one son, Bob Williams of Spokane; two daughters, Sali Stern and Vicki Wihtelin, both of Spokane; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Swan Coeur d’Alene

Service for Mary Lillian Swan, 91, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Swan, who was born in Cheboygen, Mich., died Thursday in Post Falls.

She had lived in Coeur d’Alene for more than 70 years after moving from Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She previously had lived in Oregon and California.

She married Herbert Swan in Bend, Ore., in 1923.

Mrs. Swan was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and worked with the COMET program serving meals to the needy. She loved to play pinochle and was a member of the National Council of Senior Citizens in Coeur d’Alene.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and a daughter, Vivian Scott, in 1983.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Fout of Harrison; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Julia Crawford Cataldo, Idaho

No service will be held for Julia Agnes Crawford, 80, who died Thursday at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Crawford was born in Kellogg and moved to Cataldo four months ago. She had previously lived in Quartzsite, Ariz., for 20 years and was a homemaker.

She married Carl Crawford in Kellogg in 1933.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Geraldine Carlson Kent, Wash.

Family memorial service for Geraldine P. (Henslee) Carlson, 79, will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be placed in her mother’s grave in Oakesdale, Wash., along with her twin sister’s ashes.

Mrs. Carlson, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday.

She was a homemaker and a longtime Spokane resident.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Norwood of Kent, Wash.; one son, Gary Henslee of Yelm, Wash.; one sister, Hazel Natwick of Spokane; one brother, Bernard Bartlett of San Diego; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
