Airliner Carrying 50 Crashes In Malaysia
A Malaysian Airlines aircraft carrying at least 50 people crashed on landing in eastern Malaysia today and plowed into a cluster of 20 houses near the runway, an airline official said.
The number of casualties was not immediately known.
A Malaysian Airline spokesman said there were survivors from the crash, but he refused to give details
The domestic flight crashed at the end of its one-hour trip to Tawau from Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah state, said an official at the Tawau control tower.
Tawau is 725 miles east of the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Sabah state is on the island of Borneo.
