Dollar Retreats From Recent Highs
The dollar roared to a 15-month high against the Japanese yen and nearly a 7-month high against the German mark during Asian trading Thursday before selling by profit-takers drove the dollar down ahead of a Japanese holiday.
The dollar traded with little volatility later in U.S. markets and ended down against most of the major currencies after the release of U.S. economic reports that were weaker than expected.
In late New York trading, the dollar ended at 102.50 yen, down from 102.75 yen Wednesday. The dollar also fell to 1.4875 marks from 1.4937 marks.
