Kendall Back To Where He Started - Leading B.C. Open; Triplett Two Strokes Back
Jay Williamson bogeyed his last two holes Saturday, allowing Skip Kendall to take over sole possession of the lead after three rounds of the $1 million B.C. Open at Endicott, N.Y.
Kendall was at 10-under-par 203 after 54 holes at the En-Joie Golf Course, one stroke ahead of a group that included Williamson, Craig Stadler, Gary Hallberg, David Edwards and Jeff Sluman.
Kirk Triplett of Pullman and Guy Boros were two strokes back, while Andrew Magee, Joey Sindelar, Jeff Leonard and Brad Faxon trailed by three as the field finally began to separate. When the round started, there was a five-way tie for first and 26 golfers were within three strokes of the lead.
Williamson was at 11 under and held a one-stroke lead when he missed the green on the par-317th. On the par-4 18th, he hit his drive into the water on the left side of the fairway and ended up with another bogey.
Patty Sheehan shot a 2-under-par 70 to take a two-stroke lead after the third round of the Safeco Classic. Her total is 203. Rathdrum, Idaho’s Tracy Hanson shot a 71 for a 216 total.
Bob Charles and Bob Murphy moved into the lead after two rounds of the Brickyard Crossing Senior PGA event at Inidianapolis. Charles and Murphy both shot 68s, giving them 9-under 135s for 36 holes.
Spokane’s Kyle Kelly shot a 73 to put himself in second place, one shot behind the leader, at the Nevada Junior Golf Tournament in Lake Tahoe Classic at Genoa, Nev.
