Robber Takes Cash At Convenience Store

FOR THE RECORD (April 9, 1996): The Zip-Trip robbed at gunpoint early Sunday is located 1503 E. Illinois. The address was wrong in Monday’s newspaper.

A man pretending to buy a pack of cigarettes robbed a northeast Spokane convenience store early Sunday.

The man entered the Zip-Trip at 1503 E. Indiana about 1:15 a.m., police said.

When the clerk opened the cash register, the man displayed a handgun and demanded money.

He took the cash and ran from the store, police said.

He was described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, 35 to 40 years old, with brown collar-length hair and a mustache. He was wearing a white sweat shirt and jeans.
