Paul Wilson amassed five hits and seven RBIs Saturday to lead North Idaho College to a 14-6 pounding of visiting College of Southern Idaho in a Region 18 game.
Wilson’s second double of the game, a three-run shot, ended the game in the eighth inning.
NIC’s Shelby Hawkins, who relieved winner Marc Pizzoferrato (3-2) during CSI’s five-run fifth, struck out six to earn his first save.

Jered Fowler hit a three-run homer in the eighth, then pitched the ninth for a save as the Cougars (14-26, 3-4) salvaged the second game of a Pacific-10 Conference North doubleheader with the visiting Huskies (16-20, 5-2).
Fowler’s younger brother Blair (2-3) picked up the win in the first game, with four innings of four-hit ball.
Dave Wheeler (1-2) of WSU and Mead High, who entered in the sixth, earned the game-two win. The Cougars trailed the nightcap 4-2 when Rob Ryan, of Shadle Park High, hit a towering, two-run homer to center.
UW’s Christian Shewey had two singles and three RBIs in the opener.
The clubs conclude their four-game series today at 1 p.m. The Huskies lead the series 2-1.

The visiting Vikings used three consecutive singles and a sacrifice fly to score four eighth-inning runs in the nightcap and split a Pac-10 North doubleheader with the Beavers at Corvallis, Ore.
Andrew Checketts (4-1) pitched six strong innings to win the opener for OSU.

Brian Alexander pitched two-hit ball for five innings and Jerrod Wong cracked a three-run homer as the visiting Zags (13-18) made coach Steve Hertz’s 1,000th game a memorable one by beating the Warriors (25-9) in Lewiston.
Alexander (2-1), making his third start, retired 12 of the first 13 batters he faced to help the Zags to their eighth consecutive win.
Wong’s homer, his third of the year, came off Mike Megee (0-2) with no outs in the sixth. Megee, in relief of starter Matt Foran, allowed a single to Matt Brunell and committed a fielding error on Brendan Hare’s grounder before Wong’s homer.
