A’s return to Oakland

Oakland Athletics general manager Sandy Alderson wore a hard hat to the team’s practice.

Construction crews took a break to watch the team’s noontime workout from new theater-style seats, some of them installed just a few hours earlier.

Shortstop Mike Bordick was just happy to be home, and along with his teammates, taking advantage of their first chance to get an extensive look at the reconstructed Oakland Coliseum. It will host its first major league game tonight when the A’s play the Chicago White Sox.

Oakland played its first six road games at Las Vegas’ Cashman Field.
