The Slice Nothing Starts The Day Better Than A Child’s Grin
It has been several days since we visited a local kindergarten class on an afternoon when a little girl who is a Rwandan refugee was taking her turn as the special student of the day.
But we can still see her sweet smile.
Hang on to your hat: We know this will shock you. According to people who have analyzed attendance patterns, men and women who have had successful careers are more likely to attend college reunions than individuals who feel embarrassed about their lack of advancement.
One more shaving story: “My daughter Erin was 2 years old and safely put to bed for the night, when I was startled by little noises coming from the bathroom,” a friend wrote. “When I got there and turned on the light, Erin was standing in the sink with her father’s razor in her hand. She was peering closely into the mirror, blood dripping off her chin. When I gasped ‘What happened?’ she calmly replied ‘I’m shaving.’ (She healed and is now 26.)”
New band: Kitty Kennedy’s family was listening to music in the car when one of her daughters asked “Is this Hootie and the Goldfish?”
There’s always that opera deal on PBS: Somewhere out there is an Inland Northwest television viewer who will face a tough choice tonight at 7. Should he check out “Baywatch” on KHQ or tune in “Baywatch Nights” on KLEW?
Never thought we’d say this: But we’re blase about video of tornadoes.
Royal scandal: A former Lilac Festival queen of our acquaintance reports that her crown rests at the bottom of a local lake.
Slice answers: We received some decent responses to questions about a Spokane Enemies List and readers’ service-with-a-sneer horror stories. Thanks. But you know what? More and more, we are convinced that one of Spokane’s bigger problems is excessive crankiness. And we just don’t feel right about contributing to it. (Well, not today anyway.) So we’re just going to file those answers and move on.
Thanks: For the yard art photos. We plan to share a few soon.
Today’s Slice question: Who is the area’s most colorful person, and why?
