‘My Stabilizer’

Teresa St. George Of Pullman

Kyle Jones

My everyday hero is my 10-year-old son, Kyle. Why?

Because without him I have no doubt that I would not be growing into the person I am becoming today. How? Because through good times and bad he has been my stabilizer. Just by being himself, Kyle has helped me keep my feet on the ground at times when they were not very firmly planted.

Now that I am a junior at WSU majoring in human development and a divorced single parent, Kyle continues to help me succeed. How? By adjusting to my demanding school schedule as well as putting up with me when I am stressed out and grouchy from homework and finals and just plain exhaustion. Also, Kyle has been a great help to me when I have to study for exams or write papers and cannot play with him by entertaining himself, alone, with his toys in his room.

In addition, Kyle is very acquiescent when I have to drag him to yet another one of “Mom’s” meetings. Whether it is to a departmental, club, school or community meeting, Kyle just sits quietly doing homework, reading, or playing with his toys.

Thanks, Kyle. I would not be here without you. Love, Mom.
