Conceding defeat in the Juwan Howard case, the Miami Heat must scramble to fill four roster spots and prepare for a season that holds less promise than it did recently.

Coach Pat Riley will now consider trade possibilities, such as All-Star forward Charles Barkley of Phoenix. Riley also might pursue such free agents as guard Dan Majerle and forward-center Brian Williams.
