Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Keep a pencil and paper next to the telephone. This sounds obvious, but I find that even on business calls I sometimes have to wait while the person I am calling finds something to write on. - Dorothy Cohen, Cape Coral, Fla.

Dear Heloise: I am so sick of “compact only” car parking spaces! When so many cars are minivans, how can anyone with any sense allot parking (often the closest) to compacts only? So the minivan with five kids aboard has to trek across a busy parking lot. How inconvenient, unsafe and utterly ridiculous to expect compliance.

Incidentally, I drive a compact car. Because of the (predictable and understandable) noncompliance, it’s nearly impossible to get in and out of my barely openable, thoroughly dinged doors! - P.J. Marcy, Camarillo, Calif.
