Governor Goes Crackers For Day

Associated Press

Gov. Phil Batt took time out from more serious duties on Wednesday to help Nabisco look for “the perfect snack cracker.”

He was master of ceremonies for the corporation’s promotion that brought television’s Ed McMahon and contestants from 50 states to Boise along with a huge production crew filming the event.

McMahon said the event was held in Idaho because it was “the snack center of America.”

As the contestants paraded through Boise’s historic Egyptian Theater, some in outlandish garb, Batt quipped, “It reminds me of the Legislature, the range of folks you have here.”
