Nba Sues Aol
The NBA is suing America Online and Stats Inc. for using game scores and data without permission, an NBA lawyer said.
The NBA wants to block AOL from using real-time information on its games.
Its suit is almost identical to one against Motorola that the NBA won last month. In that ruling, a federal judge said Motorola could not put out NBA scores on a pager because the NBA owned the scores.
Calls to AOL and Stats Inc. were not immediately returned.
The Houston Rockets signed center Charles Jones and guards Sam Mack and Tracy Moore to contracts. Terms were not disclosed.
With the additions, the Rockets now have 10 players under contract for the 1996-97 season.
