Group Home Staffer Sentenced For Rape

A 31-year-old man will serve at least five years in prison for raping a mentally disabled 30-year-old woman.

District Judge James Herndon sentenced Jeffery Lizee to five to 20 years in prison for the Jan. 28 assault. Another man, Shane Davidson, 29, who committed sodomy with the same woman, could serve up to 20 years.

Both men also will be required to register with Idaho law enforcement as sex offenders for the rest of their lives.

Herndon said he could find no justification for Lizee’s actions. Lizee was a night supervisor at Cedar Center, a group home for the disabled in Blackfoot, where the victim lived. At a February hearing, a psychiatrist who evaluated the victim said her mental age is about 9 or 10.

“You committed a crime against a person who trusted you, as a supervisor and as a friend.” Herndon said.
