Seven-footer Todd MacCulloch had a career-high 30 points, including 12 points during a late 15-7 run that put the game away, as Washington beat Portland State 83-70 Saturday in Seattle.
MacCulloch went 11 of 13 from the field and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line while playing only 23 minutes.
Mark Sanford added 18 points and Jamie Booker 14 for the Huskies (2-0).
Matt Ambrose and Jamaal Sanford had 13 points while Brian Towne scored 11 for the Vikings (0-3).
Portland State crept to within 60-53 on a layup by Mike Vanderhoff with 9 minutes left before MacCulloch went to work.
The sophomore center had a put-back, a layup, a tip-in, two short turnaround jumpers and two free throws during a 3:30 span that ended with Washington ahead 75-60.

At Albuquerque, N.M., Clayton Shields and David Gibson hit the crucial second-half baskets as the Lobos held off a string of rallies by the Wildcats.
New Mexico (5-0) sealed the win by making eight free throws in the game’s final 87 seconds, six by Royce Olney.
Michael Dickerson finished with 20 points for Arizona (2-1).

At Anchorage, Alaska, Ryan Mendez and Tim Young each scored 17 points to lead the Cardinal (2-1) over the Seawolves (5-2) to take third place in the Great Alaska Shootout.
The Cardinal used their size, speed and long-range shooting to run up a 25-point lead in the second half.
Nebraska 75, Oregon St. 67
At Lincoln, Neb., sophomore guard Tyronn Lue scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half to lead the Cornhuskers past the Beavers.
Nebraska (2-1) led 35-32 at the half, as the Huskers could not pull away from Oregon State (1-1) and its hard-driving point guard Carson Cunningham, who led all scorers with 26 points.
Nebraska sealed the win at the free-throw line, making 8 of 8 in the final 2 minutes.
Southern Cal 77, Long Beach St. 70
In Los Angeles, Rodrick Rhodes scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his first game for USC as the Trojans opened their season with a victory over the 49ers for Henry Bibby’s first win as USC coach.
Rhodes, who transferred to USC from Kentucky and sat out last season while the Wildcats were winning the NCAA championship, scored 18 of his points in the first half.
Arizona State 86, Maine 73
Eddie House tossed in 23 points and George Gervin Jr. added 17 to lead the Sun Devils to a win over the Black Bears in the consolation round of the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska.
ASU (2-2) finished seventh in the eight-team field, while Maine (1-4) placed last.

At Green Bay, Wis., Kenya Wilkins scored eight of his 21 points in the final 2:19 as the Ducks (3-0) overcame a 10-point second-half deficit to defeat the Phoenix (1-2).
Cal 97, Texas Southern 60
At Berkeley, Calif., Michael Stewart and Ed Gray each scored 20 points, and the Golden Bears defeated the Tigers (1-2) for their 17th consecutive home-opening win at Harmon Gym.
