At-Risk Youth Exhibit Art

The Galaxy Gallery, above Auntie’s Bookstore, is showcasing art of Spokane-area youth; youth the public have, perhaps, written off - juvenile delinquents and runaways.

Titled “Overcoming Risk,” the exhibit not only gives the misrepresented youths a voice but it also conveys the grave odds the kids face daily.

“Overcoming Risk,” which runs through the end of this month, spotlights the work of artists between 10 and 19 years of age. All pieces are for sale. A percentage of the funds will be allotted to the artists, with the rest benefiting the Galaxy Gallery’s programs involving at-risk youths.

A public reception for the artists will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. For gallery hours, call 838-6693.

Art club meeting

The Palette and Brush Art Association of Spokane will meet every third Wednesday of the month at the Town and Country Restaurant, 5615 E. Trent. The next meeting is Dec. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
